I took some nicer pictures of the Open Box with Flower Necklace today.  The previous shot that I posted was done in a rush and I was not completely satisfied with the quality of the photo.  Today I took this necklace down to the Peoria Art Guild to submit it for the member’s show they will be having starting next week.  The show has an opening reception on the 8th and runs through sometime in August.

I have been doing quite a bit with viking knit over the past few days and I am almost ready to order a whole lot of sterling wire to make a new style of viking knit bracelet and possibly a larger piece.

Last Saturday was the Peoria Art Guild Holiday show and it was a lovely time.  I enjoyed meeting lots of art lovers and seeing friends from other fairs.  The staff was wonderfully supportive as always.  The weather mostly cooperated, a few patrons of the fair had to dash through some rain.  In light of the weather the next day, Saturday was blissful and idyllic (we had a blizzard on Sunday)!

One of the most rewarding things about doing art fairs for me is when people show up wearing jewelry I made and a few came up to me and pointed out what they were wearing.  Here is a photo taken by one of the Peoria Art Guild staff.  In this shot I am talking to someone who remembered me from the very first art fair I did.  We had a nice time visiting.

In the category of last chances, I will be at Lakeview Museum on Saturday December 18th from 10am to around noon doing some demonstrating.  This is the last public appearance I will be making before Christmas.  If you still need a unique gift, this would be a great time to snag it.

I just received notification that I was selected to be one of only 20 artists for the 2010 Peoria Art Guild Artists Gift Show.  I am so jazzed about it.  Fast details for your calendar: The show is Saturday December 11th from 10am to 5pm at the Peoria Art Guild (at the corner of Washington and Harrison in downtown Peoria).  This is a fantastic chance to snap up some incredible holiday gifts or perhaps you should treat yourself to a present.

I am not done with my ear infection problems but maybe I am back up and going.  So far as I can tell you don’t need to be able to hear to make jewelry.  I got all my paperwork in the mail for the Junction City fair.  I should have that sent out tomorrow.  I am so excited about Junction City!  I see in the paperwork that they will be rearranging the layout of the booths to allow more artists and also to improve flow.  Sounds great.  I am checking out my options for the white 10 by 10 tent with sides that I will need.  But the big thing will be making lots and lots more jewelry.  Must get started on this tomorrow.  Tonight is about list making.

I was most saddened to hear that the Peoria Art Guild is having to “temporarily suspend a portion of its programming” because of low funding.  The Peoria Art Guild is fantastic in my book.  Anyone interested in making a donation or joining should look into it as soon as possible.  You can find out more at their website.

I will be displaying my fine silver jewelry at ci|creative in grand prairie mall on Saturday between 11 am and 4 pm so mark your  calendar and come out.  Also, starting Saturday (directly after the ci|creative Valentine’s Market event) you can find my jewelry in the Gallery Store at Peoria Art Guild.

Today I met with some folks at the Peoria Art Guild to discuss placing some of my jewelry in their gallery store and I was accepted.  The pieces they picked out will be on display in the store starting February 6th (after I am done displaying at the Valentine’s event at ci|creative).  That evening there will be a reception at the Peoria Art Guild for another event so check it out.  For more information about the Contemporary Jewelry Invitational see the Peoria Art Guild website, scroll down below the part that says their site is under construction.

I could not have asked for a better experience than the one today.    Everyone was so nice.
