I picked the textures for these earrings to simulate bark.  The top element is similar to some other earrings I have made in the past, but in miniature.  The fun began after they came out of the kiln.  I had decided to patina both sets.  They looked great until I stacked them.  The top layer completely disappeared against the bottom layer.  I baked the patina off both pieces and tumbled them just for a little while to get shine on top but not in the crevices.  The top layer did slightly better but was still not particularly striking against the bottom layer.  So I have given the top layer a bit of a multi-color patina with shades of dark green and lots of brown.  The patina is not protected so it will, in time, migrate to black.
